Let an ATS solve these four recruiting steps for you

With major trends in automation, data validation, and analytics, organizations see a greater need to professionalize their recruitment processes as well. The most common way to do this is through acquiring and ATS (Applicant Tracking System).

The ATS aids both the employer and the candidate through all the steps of the recruitment process, from posting the vacancy ad to importing the candidate info into other systems after the contract has been signed. The ATS is basically the CRM for candidates, dealing with the entire life cycle of relations between the employer and the candidate.

We can divide the entire process handled by the ATS into four main steps:
1) Attracting candidates
2) Receive applicant data
3) Assess applicants
4) Make decisions.

  • Attracting candidates: The ATS should help you create the vacancy ad, and allow for automatic posting to social media, your own career center, and relevant job boards. This helps you reach and attract as many potential candidates as possible, so that you can choose the best one.
  • Receive applicant data: An ATS provides forms with check boxes, dropdown menus, or free text fields where the candidate can input their info. Some ATS’s also allows the candidate to import these data from sources like LinkedIn and Facebook to speed up the process.
  • Assess applications: A good ATS should allow for automatic screening of candidates based on the application questions, either through simple qualifiers/disqualifiers or scoring. The most attractive candidates can then be brought in for interviews or otherwise evaluated more broadly.
  • Make decisions: Most ATS’s usually aid in sending out contracts and importing the candidate data into the HRM system. But the ATS should also help you communicate with the candidates who didn’t make the cut – nothing is worse for your brand as an employer than candidates left unanswered.
