Team Manager, Severa R&D

Visma Solutions Oy is the leading software house producing cloud services for SMEs in Finland. The product portfolio of the company includes work management solution Visma Severa, financial management and ERP solution Visma Netvisor, budgeting and reporting tool Navita and electronic invoice operator platform AutoInvoice/Maventa. Our offices are located in Lappeenranta employing 85 people and Helsinki employing 20 people. The five subsidiaries of Visma in Finland employ more than 700 experts in 30 offices all over the country serving over 50 000 customer companies.

Team Manager

We have a challenging opportunity for an ambitious and motivated Team Manager. Location for this position is Lappeenranta.

You will be responsible for enhancement and maintenance of Severa. In your work you will need to focus on team management, project management, software processes, software technology, and deliver new versions and updates. This is a challenging position combining project management and team management. You need to be able to gain a conceptual understanding of technical and functional aspects of the products and how these relate to the targeted market segment. Our staff works on a project basis collaborating with various other development teams, resellers, and customers across the international organization.

Our development team works in projects tightly collaborated with product owners and customers using a Scrum like methodology. The Severa team is a distributed team located in several different locations. Severa is one of many products included in the Severa Product Line which is marketed and sold as one product suit. This requires heavy integration and collaboration with the rest of the products in the product line during the development phase.


A Team Manager in R&D is responsible for managing the project and the team staff by:

  • Manage the project according to plan, routines and procedures  
  • Creating an international and corporate mindset in the personnel
  • Developing employee skills and encouraging knowledge sharing also across all Visma organizational borders.
  • Contribute to create a creative and innovative R&D community
  • Participating in staff recruitment, training, reviews and other personnel activities in accordance with existing Visma values and R&D policy

It is the Team Managers responsibility to maintain and develop technology preparedness in the team and to communicate with all relevant Stakeholders. He/she must develop, actively contribute to, and continuously improve R&D processes in order to:

  • Ensure delivery of products and assets in accordance with plans and accepted software development model within the team
  • Build a high performance team within given resources
  • Implement practical, iterative software development process
  • Contribute to team and project objectives and related team metrics
  • Create direct and broad stakeholder contact during development process in order to generate a broader understanding of stakeholders’ business needs in R&D
  • Create and foster tight coordination within the team

Qualifications and skills

We are looking for a person with a Master’s or bachelor’s degree in either business/economics or computer science. You are structured, team-oriented and genuinely interested in software development. You have a self driven attitude and consider your self goal oriented, structured, and analytical and have the ability and desire to communicate, inspire and motivate. As this team is a part of a product line, cooperation skills are essential. Good spoken and written English is needed since English is the business language in R&D.
